Shettima Kagu Mustapha, MBBS, FWACP, FACP was born on 12th April 1961 in Maiduguri, Borno State, north-eastern Nigeria.
Shettima Kagu Mustapha obtained his medical degree(MBBS) from the University of Maiduguri in 1987. He completed residency training at the University of Maiduguri Teaching Hospital from 1992 to 1998 after which he obtained
the Fellowship of the West African College of Physicians with specialization in gastroenterology.
Shettima Kagu Mustapha worked as a consultant gastroenterologist at the Federal Medical Centre Gombe, Nigeria. Before joining the University of Maiduguri as a junior lecturer in 2001. In 2003 he was awarded
the Fund for Leadership Development (FLD) grant of the McArthur Foundation for work on adolescents' awareness and knowledge of HIV/AIDS in Borno State, Nigeria.
Shettima Kagu Mustapha became a full professor at the University of Maiduguri in 2011. He is currently working as professor and consultant gastroenterologist at Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria, Nigeria. He is a member of
the American Gastroenterological Association and became a Fellow of the American College of Physicians in 2016.

So far, I’ve supervised the dissertation of 8 candidates.
