Professor El Hiba Omar was born on 12 September 1985 in Youssoufia, Marrakech-Safi state (Morocco) where he finished his high school studies with Baccalaureate in “Experimental Sciences” in 2004. One year later, he started his high university studies and was graduated in 2007 from Cadi Ayyad University (Morocco) with a bachelor's degree in Biology. In 2009, Pr. El Hiba was graduated from the same university with a Master’s degree in “Life and Health Sciences”.He began his professional carrier as a professor of Biology in high school for 5 years. Concomitantly, he started his Ph.D. in Neuroscience, receiving his Ph.D. in 2015 on the “Physiopathology of Hepatic Encephalopathy” from Cadi Ayyad University. Since 2016,
Mr. EL Hiba holds the position of professor in the Department of Biology where he is currently permanent member in the laboratory of Biotechnology, Biochemistry, and Nutrition (Nutrition and Food Sciences team), while he is associated to the Nutritional Physiopathologies Team, as well, he is associate member to laboratory of Innovation in Science, Technologies, and Modeling, physics department, Faculty of Sciences, Chouaib Doukkali University, El Jadida (Morocco). In the faculty of Sciences Semlalia, Cadi Ayyad University, Pr. El Hiba is an associate investigator in Neurosciences, Pharmacology and Environment Team, where he is the assistant of the research team leader and currently supervising several Ph.D. projects with different research interests that span both heavy metals-induced brain disorders and hepatic encephalopathy.
Much of his works shed light on the role of environmental pollutants, especially heavy metals, as key elements in the pathogenesis of different brain disorders including neurodegenerative diseases, in particular Parkinson’s disease, while he is, since 2014, member of the International Parkinson and Movement Disorders Society (MDS), Milwaukee, USA. As well, his research focuses on new drug discovery from medicinal plants with neuroprotective potential which have been subjected to several publications in different international journals to which he was solicited as a reviewer for several papers. Besides, Pr. EL Hiba has more than 24 international communications in several international congresses and symposiums (Egypt, France, Canada, India, Sweden, Denmark…) with more than 18 international awards, grants, and scholarships (IBRO, MDS, CNRST, ISHEN, NeuroMed, GDRI).
